Community Assessment for an Aging in Place Program – a new project being led by the Jewish Family Services of WNC

Jewish Family Services of WNC is excited to share that we are conducting an Aging in Place Community Assessment, with the goal of providing data and a potential scalable or replicable model for an Aging in Place program. We are collecting information on individuals’ needs and interests related to aging in place and also about existing resources, programs and service providers in the community. We are partnering with many of the organizations that serve the older adult community to see how we can collaborate and not duplicate services/programs.

The study group for this assessment is the Jewish community in Buncombe and Henderson and other WNC counties and includes individuals who are affiliated with Jewish organizations and individuals who identify as Jewish and are not affiliated with any local Jewish organizations. A survey is available NOW on the JFS website at (call 828-253-2900 to request a paper survey). Please complete this survey if you are in this study group and interested in aging in place!

JFS will provide resources and support to help other organizations, groups and city/county officials who are interested in building similar or larger programs in the community. JFS serves individuals of all faiths in WNC. If JFS implements a pilot Aging in Place program as a follow-on project, it will be open to everyone in the broader community.

We appreciate Dogwood Health Trust for providing funding for this research project. If you would like to find out more about the project, please visit or call 828-253-2900.
