This year, Blue Ridge Pride launched a new events program, the Movie and Mixer Series. The series featured four films and attracted over 400 theatre-goers. It raised more than $7,000 for the Blue Ridge Pride Community Partner Fund. All proceeds from the fund benefit local
organizations and projects that support the WNC LGBTQ Community.
“This was truly a community effort,” says Series Director Colgate Darden. We benefited in particular from the sponsorship and support of the Fine Arts Theatre and the Aloft Downtown Asheville. They provided both facilities and funds to help make this happen. We also had an incredible team of volunteers.”
Movies were screened in the Fine Arts Theatre’s main theatre. Afterwards, ticketholders gathered across the street at the Aloft for a social get-together and entertainment. “[insert quote about the social event – could be attributed to Drew”]
“This series was an extraordinary contribution to the community,” says Blue Ridge Pride Executive Director, Tina White. “It provided by far the largest uplift to our new Community Partner Fund. It also offered an example of what we can accomplish when we team up with local businesses. We cannot wait to see what Colgate and team dream up for 2020.”
