Community Oral History Training Workshop

...we’ll showcase digital media produced from the 92 oral histories...

We are hosting a Community Oral History Training Workshop in Marshall, NC followed by a Social Share Hour where we’ll showcase digital media produced from the 92 oral histories we’ve archived over the past three years. Undergraduate research interns, Kai Green and Matti Kauftheil, will present on their projects: Profile Based Essay on HIV and AIDS and a Zine Making Curriculum Unit for secondary education.

The workshop is free (with refreshments from Zadie’s Market) and open to anyone.

When: Friday, April 22, 2022 – Old Marshall Jail in Marshall, NC – 1pm – 3 pm

  • Panel Discussion with Diverse LGBTQIA+ Narrators
  • Best Practices for Conducting Life History Interviews
  • 3 – 4 pm, Social Share Hour
  • Sharing artifacts and digital media from the archive
  • Undergraduate research intern presentations

People are welcome to the workshop 1 – 3 pm at Old Marshall Jail and/or to the Social Share hour 3 – 4 pm. Snacks provided by Zadie’s Market (thanks to Blue Ridge Pride). Beverages for purchase during the Social Share Hour. This event is supported also by UNC Asheville’s Covid Scholarly and Creative Activity Initiative and Old Marshall Jail.
