Asheville tends to cater to the younger crowd of LGBTQ+ folx, and Upstate Pride is well ahead of WNC in having more family-oriented events. We would like to have events that are more family-oriented to get our queer families out and about and more visible, to feel like a larger part of the queer community, and to be able to enjoy drag shows that aren't late and at bars which don't work well for families and kids.

I am very active in the Asheville queer community. I have a small business that provides content marketing to LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and Allied small business owners. Also, Benji Greene, owner of Banks Ave. will be a sponsor. He is donating the space as well as his time to bartend for beer and wine sales only (no liquor). He will also be selling drinks and snacks for the kids. My partner in planning these events, Arianna, is experienced in scheduling and managing drag shows and knows many performers. She will be securing 4 performers (one of which will be a host) for each show. They will be chosen based on professionalism and ability to keep their performances clean. We also hope to partner with YouthOutRight to recruit teen drag performers.

We will have 4 performers per show, and they will be paid $75 to $100 each.
DJs will be paid $150 per show, unless we can find some willing to donate their time.
We may also want to have other activities like face painting and balloon shaping, and if we include any corporate sponsors, they will want to have booths and a few minutes to speak on stage.
