Helping Homeless Women Veterans In Buncombe, Henderson & Haywood Counties
Did you know that homeless women veterans are one of the fastest growing populations in the US? North Carolina had the 6th largest female veteran population in 2013 and it is estimated that between 4,000 and 8,000 live in Buncombe County. But most people are unaware of what these women have to deal with after they leave the military or the discrimination they suffer in comparison to their male peers.

Council on Aging of Buncombe County promotes the independence, dignity and well-being of adults through service, education and advocacy. We are a welcoming, knowledgeable free and unbiased resource to help aging adults and their families secure resources, receive support, and navigate options available for aging in community. We meet the social health needs of our community, such as nutrition and physical fitness, caregiver support, navigating elder abuse, providing home repair and transportation services, as well as Medicare counseling, Affordable Care Act navigation and enrollment in programs for low-income individuals, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

LifeShare Carolinas
LifeShare Carolinas is proud to fulfill our mission of giving hope, life, and healing in 23 North Carolina counties. We coordinate the recovery and distribution of organs, eyes, and tissues for transplantation and medical research. LifeShare provides education to hospital staff and community partners about the donation process. For the families of our donors, we provide ongoing support through our Bridge to Healing program.

We want our communities to know that anyone can sign up as an organ, eye, and tissue donor, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, or medical conditions. We will be at Blue Ridge Pride to answer questions and help people sign up to save lives!

North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation
The NCSBI has original jurisdiction in the following areas: drug and arson investigations, environmental crimes, election law violations, human trafficking, weapons of mass destruction, child sexual abuse in daycare centers, computer crimes against children and crimes involving state property. Because of the nature of our job, it is important that our agents reflect the communities we serve including the LGBTQ+ community. We take part in numerous recruiting events throughout the year that cater specifically to groups of different backgrounds including veterans and minorities. WNCAP (Western North Carolina AIDS Project)
WNCAP (Western North Carolina AIDS Project) was founded in 1986 by a small group of committed volunteers. During the early years of the AIDS epidemic, WNCAP founders provided food, comfort, and care to people with AIDS-related illnesses. In the 1990s, WNCAP developed prevention education and a case management program. Later, WNCAP also added harm reduction and pharmacy services. Today, WNCAP serves thousands of people across 18 counties in Western North Carolina. Our organizational vision is a community free of HIV, Hepatitis C, and overdose deaths.
