Oral History Interviewer - Spanish

Do you want to help us capture the hidden history of Spanish-speaking LGBTQ Western North Carolina?  We are looking for people with strong interpersonal and communication skills and fluency in Spanish to conduct interviews in person or using Zoom.

 

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct interviews with assigned interviewees. [We will keep you on call and contact you as we identify people who want to be interviewed.]
  • Collect a signed release from from the interviewee.  Help them to understand their options where confidentiality is concerned.
  • If appropriate, collect donated or loaned artifacts and deliver to the Project.
  • Upload a photo of the interviewee (unless they prefer none).
  • Submit a brief summary of each interview.
  • Respect interviewees' stated preferences where confidentiality is concerned.

Commitment

  • We prefer people who are willing to commit to conducting 3 to 5 90-minute interviews.

What You'll Need

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • You will need to have your own computer and/or means of transportation. We can supply the Zoom account and recording equipment.
  • We will ask you to sign a release and confidentiality agreement. Interview contents are not to be shared outside the Oral History team except as agreed by interviewees.
