You are invited to participate in a research study about the impact of pets on older adults’ social networks and well-being.
To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be age 60 or older; live year-round in Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes or Yancey counties; and live in a home in the community, rather than an assisted living or nursing center.
If you agree to be part of the research study, you will be asked to complete an online survey that will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
Upon completion of the survey, you will be asked if you want to be added to the drawing for the $75 gift card. If you would like to be, you will click on the link that will take you to another website where you can input your name, county, and address. You will be added to that county’s drawing, and there will be one gift card given for each county.
Join Generation Plus and Emily Carleo, the Director of Congregate Nutrition at the Council on Aging, for a “Thrive: lunch and learn” event covering nutrition basics for aging adults and the importance of nourishing not only your body but also your mind and spirit. This program will give insight into how nutrition can make a difference as you age, what to look out for in terms of risks and how to include healthy alternatives. Emily will review the senior dining program and how it encompasses many aspects of a person’s holistic health (nutrition, social engagement, physical health and movement). Emily attended UNC Charlotte and has a Masters in Gerontology; she loves her cats, listening to podcasts and reading.
