This weekend at Diana Wortham, check out Terpsicorps Theater of Dance's show "Before the Scream". The show is composed of 5 separate works, performing female presenting, male presenting and non-binary roles. One of the performers is Lelo Gonzalez, a nonbinary person from Puerto Rico. Here is a little from Lelo on inclusion in dance, in their own words,

"At 10 years old, I was yelled at for wanting to wear pointe shoes like the girls and was bullied for being effeminate. I endured many awful things common within the LGBTQ+ community, and although it hurt and affected my process of truly accepting myself, no type of conversation ever worked on me. I'm sharing part of my story because I was finally hired to dance and perform the way I want to with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance. They saw me, my technique, and my passion for what it is and not for what it traditionally should be. I'm excited to dance in the upcoming shows of "Before the Scream" with this company."
